UACCM MUSIC DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES OCTOBER EVENTS

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton Music Department has two exciting events during the month of October. The first event will be the annual fall concert on Thursday, Oct. 20, featuring the UACCM Concert Choir, University Singers, and Soundscape. This free concert is entitled “Around the World” and will feature music from many different regions including Africa, India, Asia, Ireland, and the good old USA! There will be two separate showings of the concert: one at 12:05 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m. Both showings will be held in the UACCM Fine Arts auditorium and are free and open to the public.

The second event is a part of the 2011-2012 Soundscape Salon Series. This year’s series features music of the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. The first show, “Songs of the 40’s” will be held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 27, at the UACCM Plaza. This show will feature some of the greatest hits of the 40’s including “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “Stormy Weather,” “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and many, many more! There will be a special appearance from Rosie the Riveter! Tickets are $10 and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
