Ambassador Project presentations tomorrow

Do we really see what goes on with the youth in our community? How many children are not properly cared for? Two organizations within our local community have stepped in to provide stable, loving homes for these children and give them opportunities that otherwise would never be presented to them.

Please accept our personal invitation to learn more about a couple of non-profit organizations in Conway and Faulkner counties. This Thursday, November 21, 2013, the UACCM Student Ambassadors will host a ceremony to present Southern Christian Home of Morrilton, and Soaring Wings Ranch of Faulkner County with checks for $1,000 each. Directors from each of these organizations will make presentations in an effort to educate the public about their organizations and what they do. The event will begin at 12:15 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium on the UACCM campus. We encourage you to come and learn more about these wonderful organizations who work so hard to provide for children in and around our communities. We often don’t realize how many children are in need in our own local communities and the hardships they have faced and continue to struggle with daily. If you have a desire to give back to the community, give neglected children better opportunities to become leaders in society, then this meeting is for you!

Southern Christian Home is a children's home located in Morrilton, AR that has been caring for children since1926. Based on mission work of the Church of Christ, children are taken into the program with the initial intentions to provide them the spiritual nurture they deserve. The founders’ goals are to care for, keep, train, and educate orphan children. Currently, Southern Christian Home is licensed by the State of Arkansas as a Residential Childcare Facility and as a Child Placement Agency. They provide a safe place for neglected, abused, and dependent children that need to be placed out of the parents(s)’ home. Southern Christian Home can provide full time care to up to 48 children. Children at the home receive a loving family environment, regular church attendance, counseling, educational guidance and tutoring and many other activities.

Soaring Wings Ranch is located on 195 acres in Holland, AR and officially opened its doors in 2007. Soaring Wings is a private, non-profit, Christ-centered organization. The Ranch provides homes for children ages 6-17 who are neglected, abandoned, abused or in need of a strong family support structure. Through this ministry, children are able to develop and grow spiritually, emotionally, intellectually and socially and given the chance to heal through counseling, education, loving family environment and the gospel. The children living at the Ranch attend public schools and also attend a tutoring program twice weekly to maintain the skills they need for academic success. At completion, the Ranch will have a maximum of five homes for boys and five homes for girls, occupying eight children in each home.
