Short-Term, Non-Credit Commercial Driver Training (CDT) Program Offered

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton’s Workforce Training and Community Education department is taking applications for the next group of students in the Commercial Driver Training (CDT) Program. The UACCM Commercial Driver Training class is a four-week, 160-hour training program. Upon completion of the program, students will be tested by the State Police or a third party tester for their Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Tuition and fees total $3,500; however, applicants who are currently unemployed or underemployed may qualify for special grants or scholarships. There will be additional fees for the CDL packet and written and skills exams. These fees are not included, and will be the responsibility of the participants.

Wayne Smith Trucking of Morrilton donated a 2007 Great Dane trailer for the training, and the college is leasing a tractor for the driving portion of the class. Participants may need to be available for some evening on-the-road training.

Participants must be 18 years of age, and it is preferable they be at least 21 years old since many over-the-road trucking companies do not hire those under 21. Applicants must be able to pass a DOT physical, background check, and drug screening. Participants must be able to read, speak, and comprehend the English language sufficiently to meet the Department of Transportation regulations.

Additional classes will be offered in the future, and students may apply for those classes at this time as well. For more information, contact Jessica Rohlman at 501-977-2004 or visit the college web page, uaccm.edu/cdt/
