Public Invited to 'Workforce Strong' Event Oct. 6

The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton invites the public to attend Workforce Strong, a National Manufacturing Day event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6. This free event will be located inside the Workforce Training Center on the west end of campus.

“This event has two purposes, with the first being to reach out to eighth- through 12th-grade students and their families and expose them to modern-day career opportunities and the education required for those jobs,” Jessica Rohlman, UACCM’s Director of Workforce Development & Community Education, said. “These are viable, high-wage, high-demand jobs that aren’t what you would think of years and years ago. We are also, in acting as a job fair, reaching the underemployed and unemployed in our area.” 

There will be food and drink available to participants, as well as booths for every hands-on training program offered at UACCM. This includes:

·         Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology
·         Automotive Service Technology
·         Business
·         Commercial Driver Training
·         Computer Information Systems Technology
·         Drafting
·         Early Childhood Development
·         Emergency Medical Technician
·         Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology
·         Nursing Assisting
·         Practical Nursing
·         Registered Nursing
·         Surveying
·         Welding Technology

UACCM is committed to developing a well-prepared workforce for our community, as well as local businesses and industry partners — several of which will be present for this event, such as Welsco, Inc.; Conway Human Development Center; Hagans Dodge; American Welding Society Lexicon; Prospect Steel; Green Bay Packaging, Arkansas Kraft Division; Mercer Valve Company; and Training Consultants, Inc.

Student Onboarding Due March 25

In preparation for Fall 2024 advising & registration, students should log into Workday and complete a series of tasks called Student Onboarding : Students should log in to Workday and complete these tasks:  Navigate to  myapps.microsoft.com  in a web browser.  Log in with your UACCM email and password when prompted. You may also be prompted to authenticate using an authenticator app or secure code.  A dashboard with multiple apps will display. Locate the blue app titled “Workday” and select it.  You are now logged into Workday!  Once logged in, you will do the Federal Student Aid Authorization and then complete My Tasks .  This will include such things editing your contact information (if necessary), editing your personal information (if necessary), adding My Friends and Family (emergency contact information), and other tasks. When entering your My Friends and Family information, you must select Emergency Contact as one of the relationship types or you will get an error message .

UACCM Eclipse Parking

  The following guidelines apply to any vehicles parked on the UACCM campus at 8:00 a.m. on Monday. FOR VISITORS VIEWING ECLIPSE:  Purchase an eclipse parking pass for $100 from the either of the tents located on University Boulevard  (🟧 on map). You are allowed to park anywhere in eclipse parking (blue on map). FOR STUDENTS VIEWING ECLIPSE:  You are allowed to park in eclipse parking (blue on map), free of charge. You must present a valid and current UACCM Student ID at either tent located on University Boulevard (🟧 on map). A UACCM campus parking pass is also required.  FOR STUDENTS CONDUCTING BUSINESS: You may park in the parking lot in front of the UC and BTC (pink on map). You must present a valid and current UACCM Student ID at either tent located on University Boulevard (🟧 on map). A UACCM campus parking pass is also required.

Get to know Miss UACCM 2023

  Earlier this month, Zaybrau Williams, from Dardanelle, was named Miss UACCM in the fifteenth annual Miss UACCM pageant.  Zaybrau was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the UACCM’s Chancellor’s Office, a floral bouquet courtesy of Plummer’s Flowers and Gifts, Morrilton, and gifts cards from Elia’s Mexican Grill, Morrilton, and Red Barn Market, Conway. Get to know Miss UACCM 2023, Zaybrau Williams, a little more. Why did you choose UACCM? I chose UACCM because of the community size and the various opportunities that are available to me. From being raised in a small community, UACCM felt like home. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming, it made choosing UACCM so easy. What are your educational and career goals?
