What is synchronous learning?

Synchronous learning is a term that is used to describe forms of education, instruction, and learning that occur at the same time, but not in the same place.

Students can attend an in-person lecture class virtually, while their classmates are on campus. 

 

What time do I attend class?

Synchronous courses will utilize Blackboard Collaborate, allowing students to be in the same learning environment, some virtually and some physically in the classroom.

Students have the option to attend the physical classroom or log into the virtual class meeting. However, to be counted present, the student must be in class or logged into Collaborate at the scheduled class time.

 

How do I log into class?

To access Blackboard Collaborate, log in directly to Blackboard using your UACCM email and password, then click on the designated course.

Once inside the course, look for the "Collaborate" link on the left navigation menu. Click "Collaborate", and a link to join the current session will appear.

 

Communication

Instructors will communicate with students on the first day of class to let them know exactly where to receive assignments, submit work, or ask questions.

While in Collaborate sessions, students will be able to share their webcam and microphone to interact with the instructor and other students.

 

Technology Requirements

Students registering for synchronous classes will be required to provide their own devices and have reliable Internet access to complete the course.
